I think that words are in songs for a reason. A lot of bands don't write radio edits purely based on the fact that they have those words in there. Language is important in any artistic discipline, and a radio edit is an edit of the language. Also, do I really want to go through and censor my entire music library? God no. I don't buy music that is censored. I'm a big boy now, I get to listen to bad words. Plus, if a BLACK GUY uses a racial slur about OTHER BLACK GUYS, how is that at all used in a racist context? I would never ever let anything exist on anything I was associated with that had racial intentions. I'm a very tolerant and liberal person. If mainstream black musicians want to refer to themselves as 'niggas', I have absolutely no problem with it. It is entirely their prerogative to refer to themselves any way they want. The context is what is important. Long and short of it being that 50 Cent using word the word 'nigga' is not racist. At all. If you examine the actual usage of the word 'nigger' by those of whom it originally referred to from a sociological perspective, the reason BEHIND it's now common usage is to ELIMINATE the racial power of the word. This is one thing I'm not going to sway on. If language has to be censored, then YOU are missing out by being incredibly close minded and unreasonable but not associating yourself with the SS Radio network. I'll gladly make sure that the fact that the language is raw and real and uncensored is clearly advertised, so anyone who could POTENTIALLY be offended won't have to expose themselves to it. And if there are any DJs who wish to specifically cater to the crowd who are offended by words, I will gladly bring them aboard, to widen the 'demographic' we hope to serve. But as it stands right now, if you require a completely clean radio, then I pity you, and you can just remove yourself from this discussion right now, and let the rest of us move on with progress, and not menial discussion about what is racist or acceptable.
