It matters little what 17th was in the past- it's now a soccer-based zone and has been for as long as I can remember. You can't simply argue that 17th is a turf flag zone because some outdated description describes it as such when most, if not all of the players think otherwise (an !@#$%^&*umption here, but one that I think is relatively safe to make). The moveable flag is interesting. I'd prefer it to KotH: I can't recall many players who actively sought to win KotH. Most seemed to regard it as a convenient bonus. The flag seems to make people more involved in the game, which is a definite plus. And I've heard that the bounty / shipreset problem's been fixed. The other problem seems to be that it still detracts from the ball game somewhat, but we'll probably always have that. I don't see the advantage of reverting to turf flags at the goalrooms of both bases. People don't seem to care about them all that much- some take time to capture them when they score, but few seem to care too much about lighting up a few baubles that they stumble across whenever they score. I think we ought to give it a chance. As far as I'm concerned, you could just give everyone a periodic point bonus and I won't be able to tell the difference. It's currently at 8 v 10. Given that the forum is hardly representative of the population, that only 18 people have expressed an opinion, and that there're only 2 votes difference between the options, I'd say the poll were more ambiguous than anything. The same thing would occur with KotH, and as I've already said above, turf flags just seem to be a simple way of injecting more points into the game without any significant involvement by the players. Update: There seems to be another problem with the flag, seeing as it gives the flagholder 9000+ bounty. All the above only applies if this is fixed.
