I have said this in the TW Forums, but isn't it better to wait until whoever owns Getcontinuum.com UPDATES the page so it downloads Continuum 0.40 rather than 0.39pr1. People are going to be put off if they download the game, can't get in to a zone and possibly won't bother trying to find the newer version. Who owns getcontinuum.com?

Well then forget what I said, that is great news!
-
I assume, as it is a Beta release, there will be minimal additions for the final release version of 0.39. This is disappointing news. This post suggests the only additions will be a few bug fixes. I wasn't expecting any "cool "new features, I was just hoping something would be done to help combat cheating. Currently, anyone with limited knowledge can quite easily (and undetectably) cheat in such a way to give themselves a strong advantage over other, more honest, players.

While at University, I use wireless to connect to the internet. Every now and again, it cuts me off for a couple of seconds which means I cannot play TWJD, TWDD and sometimes TWBD 50/50 whether I lagout). This happens in any online games and I !@#$%^&*umed it was just the way wireless is and grew to accept it. While playing Counter-Strike yesterday I decided to time the interval between the spikes, and it turned out they happened every 60 seconds. A bit of googling led me to realise it's actually a Windows issue. Stupidly, Windows automatically searches for new wireless networks every 60 seconds, causing these lag spikes. I've disabled it on my computer, and I am at 0.1 0.1 ploss instead of the 1.5 0.1 I'd be at before. Also, playing Counter-Strike for a few hours yesterday I experienced one single lag spike, instead of one every minute. How to disable in XP: One way around it is to use the third party wireless management software that came with your card, this isn't that ideal though as they tend to be pretty crap. If you want to stick with the windows software: It's simply a case of disabling the Wireless Zero Configuration service while you're playing. To do this, start menu -> run type in services.msc, find Wireless Zero Configuration, right click and select "Stop". Your wireless connection will remain connected while the service is stopped. If it disconnects (say you reboot your router w/e), you will not be able to reconnect until you restart the service. How to disable in Vista The WZC service is tacked in with the other wireless stuff in Vista, so you can't get around it by using the 3rd party software that came with your wireless card. Instead, use this file. Use the "Auto Off.bat" to disable the wireless config. And the "Auto On.bat" to turn it back on again. REMEMBER to turn it back on before turning your computer off, otherwise it won't connect to a wireless network next time you boot until you turn it on. You will have to run both .bat files as Administrator. Also, if you want to see what's inside them, simply right click -> edit. This is for all you paranoid of malicious code ;P. Anyway, hope this helps.

I believe the Continuum not loading problem is caused by Continuum's built in defense against viruses. It won't allow itself to load if it feels something is attempting to modify it or something along those lines. It can be caused by many anti-virus softwares' on-access type scanning. Cheat Engine works by modifying the client side memory data. In theory (and possibly practice, I am not too in on the cheating community) any ship setting can be changed on the client. Known hacks using cheat engine (ones I have witnessed or am beyond doubt that have been witnessed) Modifying ship size ("pixelhack") Allowing illegal weapons (e.g. rep on a terr in TW) Instant full energy (energy hack) Increasing Max energy Increasing energy recharge rate Supposed (And probable) hacks using CE: Changing ship (client side) to spec mode and back again quickly. On cheater's screen, they will go in spec then re-enter in same position thus avoiding fire). On anyone else's screen will look like a normal spike. Changing ship speed (not speedhack, but actually changing the setting) Reducing bomb damage radius ...The list goes on.... Some, such as illegal weapons and increasing max energy are easy to detect. But others, such as pixelhack (if used subtly) and the changing ship trick are pretty much impossible to detect currently. Cheat Engine can run in stealth mode, and can use hotkeys to turn on/off cheats. Perhaps one way to combat it would have some sort of mod command that requests all continuum memory data from the client and compares it with what it should be. I don't know if this would be a modification to subgame rather than continuum, though.

I'm a mod in TW, and we've recently been getting a few ?helps reporting this same problem. I've tested it myself and have not received the temporary password.

What you pasted is not bad lag at all. And you talk of people calling you laggot etc, that's because you play Trench Wars, it's full of trash talkers there (Btw I am a TW player, but not a trash talker ;p).

It's the client, nothing to do with the bot as far as I know. If you play a game where a lot of people are in a tight space (a good example is when ?go boki is hosted in TW) some kills are missed by some clients. If I was to check F2 after javving, my kills might be 90 - 40 but others might see me as having 60 - 35. You always see your own score correctly, and if you re-enter the arena, you will then see everyone's scores correctly. This could be completly unrelated, but I doubt it.

In fact, that one even acknowledges tiles 241 and 242's attributes.
-
The tiles that looks like bricks, do not have the same attributes as dropped bricks do, so that's that idea out the window. I personally think they are actual tiles that no one was ever told about.

Just a little question, how do I play in something other than wb?

[Note: scroll way way down for downloads] Firstly, I must say this was all Overburn's work, no credit to me I am simply copying and pasting what he posted in the TW forums a few months ago. Everything between the underscores is written by Overburn. I am sure many of you will find this is a pretty important and potentially revolutionary find: __________________________ ...I discovered more usless but cool crap for my map editor (which died a month ago, but Im bringing it back). well, this time I discoved "extra" tiles in continuum, most of them are usless but a few are cool. yea, I'll just describe them now... (Note: when I say "Items", I mean decoys, bullets, bombs, shrap, burst, and power balls, but not thors) Tile: Description 191: Invisible on screen, Visible on radar, Ships can go through them, Items bounce off it, Thors go through it. (if you "launch" an item while in it, the item will float suspended in space) 192-215: Invisible on screen, Visible on radar, Solid block (like any other tile) 216: a small asteroid, eveyone already knows about this... 217: a medium asteroid, everyone alreay knows about this... 218: another small asteroid, just the same as the other one, accept the gfx's are alittle diffrent 219: a spacestation, everyone knows about this... 220: a wormhole, everyone knows about this... 221-240: Invisible on screen, Visible on radar, Solid block (like any other tile) 241: Invisible on screen, Visible on radar, Ship can go through it but Items dissapear when they touch it. 242: Invisible on screen, Invisible on radar, Warps your ship on contact, items bounce off it, Thors dissapear on contact (!) 243-251: Invisible on screen, Invisible on radar, Solid block (like any other tile) 252: Visible on screen (Animated NME door), Invisible on radar, Items go through it, your ship gets warped after a random amount of time (0-2 seconds) while floating on it. 253: Visible on screen (Animated Team door), Invisible on radar, Items go through it, so does your ship. 254: Invisible on screen, Invisible on radar, Items go through it, So does your ship. idk what its used for, but it seems you cant door while on/near it. 255: Visible On screen (Animated Green Prize), Invisible on radar, Items go through it, So does your Ship. This is a green, but it doesent show up on radar, and no matter how many times you fly over it, you will never pick it up, ever. as you can see, most of these tiles have great usability, I especially like tile 242 becasue you can make a flagging base that thors will not be able to get in. I have the map Here if you want to test it out yourself, but you cant open it up in ssme becasue of a "Tile ID out of range" error. __________________________ I must say some of these tiles are potentially extremely useful. The only current problem is the lack of editor support for them, but Overburn made a tile replacer tool which means you can make a map and then change all tiles of a certain TileID to another TileID but once that's done, it is unopenable in SSME. He also discovered it's possible to place tiles on top of one another. I experimented with this (using hex editting) and you can make a Wormhole completly covered in Tile 254 which is invisible on screen and on radar, and upon sucking you in, doesn't warp you, just flings you out. I would link you to his TileReplacer tool but it's a dead link. I'll pm him and edit this when I've got a new link to it.
