Why does everyone on the zone hate new folk?
A_Mare_Who_Kicks replied to A_Mare_Who_Kicks's topic in Hyperspace
Coenny, who owns Hyperspace and dictates policy, has graciously let me know that Hyperspace is, indeed, not for anyone new. She is satisfied with a low playerbase and seems to be glad for the ballkilling, stalking and harr!@#$%^&*ment committed by her players. To illustrate what I mean, I took a number of screenshots I hope you will enjoy: Screenshots (JPeG format in one .ZIP) Sadly I did not take any of the first 20 ballkills done to stalk and harr!@#$%^&* me today by some lamer players who have nothing better to do and their number one job is to drive new players from the zone. Since there are 20 screenshots, I have converted them to JPEG and put them into one zip file for your viewing convenience. I will, however, go over each one. Screen shot 1, 3:37 p.m. Because I can't try to warp withoout disengaging my x radar, you can't see the cloakers stalking me in the base -- but you can see what they are doing. Yes, that's an anti-warp engaged in the center section engaged by Bak- so I could not warp out to try and enjoy the game. Whatever happens, I am not permitted to play the game. Bear in mind this had been going on since I went on at around 8 a.m. this morning. I already had been ballkilled about 20 times between Bak- and Mess a couple hours earlier in the day. Screenshot 2, taken 15 minutes later, shows a ballkill in progress by Bak- with special !@#$%^&*istance from Evil Doom. Actually it is a second, as my AntiDeath had me re-appear in the safe zone. This is Coenny's crew proudly in progress. This is what new players can expect joining the game. Screenshot 3 shows AnthraaX doing his part to stalk a new player in a safe zone. Screenshot 4 - Bak- is back on the job stalking me. Why? Again, its his job and he's doing what he is supposed to, according to Coenny. Screenshot 5, the same after I'd moved to a different safe area and shows they have cooperation from a spectator spy to stalk me. Again on 7 (sorry, 6 came out blank for some reason, but I !@#$%^&*ure you the crew was well on the job to ensure I could not play). 8, back to Anthraax in yet another safe zone. These guys sure are persistent, no new guy will ever want to stay -- just what Coenny wants. Screenshot 9 (8:43 p.m.) shows something interesting -- Wet Noodle appears to be on my freq and attacking, and indeed he is. However, Wet Noodle is on the crew and they quickly put him in his place. He joins their frequency to join in the harr!@#$%^&*ment. 10 came out blank, sorry. Screenshot 11 shows Anthraax engaging another antiwarp in the center. Coenny must be proud of him. Screenshot 12 shows Bak- doing the same thing. Funny thing, Bak- was banned earlier in the day for ballkilling me -- but Coenny doesn't like Nike, doesn't like her sitebanning her buddy so Coenny allows Bak- to stay. Maybe Nike should be fired for trying to enforce the rules and make the zone pleasant for new guys -- obviously that is not wanted. 13 shows where Bak- was, right on top of me since, again, I can't try to warp (to show the antiwarp sign) with my X Radar engaged. We see more of the group blocking the center to ensure I can't play in 20 (sadly there were a lot of blank screenshots for some reason). Wet Noodle, Erias, Bak-, Shrop, Evil Doom and I believe that is AnthraaX behind based on the large X visible at the end past the overlapped letters. Screenshot 21 shows another ballkill in progress. Bak-, WetNoodle, AnthraaX, and EvilDoom all doing their part. I believe that is shrop in the Leviathin. They should get raises. Screenshot 22 shows him in a Leviathin anyway after I'd moved to another safe zone and setting up a mine blockade to disallow anyone (namely me) from entering play. This is, of course, their intent. Screenshot 24 shows the crew in force again -- Inek, Shrop, Bak-, AnthraaX, Wet Noodle and Evil Doom all working hard together to harr!@#$%^&* and ensure I can't enter gameplay. Again in 25, 27. Another example of how dedicated they are to just how serious these guys are in driving new players off in 28 by letting themselves get killed with their own mines. Sadly, shot 30 had a dual ballkill by Mess but was blank, then another one immediately thereafter (thanks to my AntiDeath) by Wet Noodle. I'm really not giving Mess enough credit, however, as I reported about 10 ball kills he'd done earlier in the day and nothing had been done about it, of course. Coenny's zone remains a haven for lamers, ballkillers, people who curse, break the rules, use cheats and anyone who doesn't like new guys. 32 shows AnthraaX back on the job to prevent me from entering gameplay and in the chat convo, Coenny boasts that the three brand new folk (not myself) I saw come onto the zone and get chased off by this no-new-guys-allowed-crew was not doing them justice. 33 shows AnthraaX and Shrop setting up another ballkill. In 34, shrop grabs the ball and continues off the screen to the left to fire the ball at me while I am in the safe zone. Anthrax and Evil Doom are there to do the kill. Sadly, the shots of the actual ballkill are blank. I think its because they lag so much from the cheats they have to have running. Anyway, the next beauty we see is 39 to show a tiny piece of the beautiful conversation going on with Coenny and how she is dealing with the situation. We see a curse by Shrop, but of course no one cares because he's part of the crew. The rules aren't really rules, you see, more like ... stuff to pretend to make new guys feel safe. Otherwise new guys might not sign on and then the crew would be bored. Picano seems to go against hte flow, silencing someone for sucky spamming. I bet Coenny really doesn't like Picano, he seems to want to enforce the rules when he's on and he tried protecting me from harr!@#$%^&*ment by installing turrets by the safe zones to give me some margin of safety. Coenny's at!@#$%^&*ude sums up with: "we lame...its true...but it works for us" Indeed, there we have it! The zone is for lamers! Coenny knows best, forget any of the other mods! I didn't want to leave KiNg out, so there he is in screenshot 40. Oh yes, he's part of the crew. Over 12 hours of harr!@#$%^&*ing a player, ballkilling -- just what Hyperspace wants to be! Coenny must be proud and in 41, she goes on to explain its their fun to drive new players out and maintain a low playerbase. Anyway, I'll probably pop on to give my money to some other sucker. I'm off to work for the weekend, then I'll go back to Trench Wars which is more my speed. Laming is lambasted there, the mods don't support it, and spec spying and other lameness is even outlawed, and its much friendlier to new people. -

If you want no more players, then keep it as it is. d1 doesn't like new players. No, I don't hate new players. Just you! Its as simple as that. Drive off new player = no new players. And today I caught two people outrunning me in a straight line when my warbird has speed upgrade up to 100%. No one's been able to explain how they do that other than using a cheat. Maybe you just suck at flying, and are high on crack so you can't fly a straight line. OR MAYBE THEY WERE USING ROCKETS YOU DUMB -*BAD WORD*- Crashing the server on purpose, breaking the rules and using cheats should not be acceptable practices anywhere unless that's the sort of server you want to run. If you want more players, some cleanup is in order. Yes, clean up. ?ban e43345876435863487563487654 a mare who kicks. All clean! -

D1 attacked me with zero provocation, I did nothing against him and it was definitely not meant light-hearted when he cursed at me AND joined those flaming me with other cursing for no reason. He did cause one person who just signed on to leave, saying they were disgusted with whatever they were discussing (not hard to imagine they were still cursing and flaming me). CURSING -is- against the rules and if a moderator is going to break the rules against a new player, the moderator needs to go. Further, Mess and Bak- have been illegally stalking me all day today. From the moment I logged on, Bak- stalked me no matter what zone I would go to. When I managed to get in to help defend my team's flags, he chased me in to kill me but still left the flags -- he is solely there to keep me from playing. Mess later joined in and both Mess and Bak- began a long round of ballkilling (expressly illegal) against me intentionally, chasing me to any safe zone and in zone 5 safe zone, locking me in with antiwarp. -

No, it was one-sided and you guys continued for quite awhile after I stopped saying anything and you wound up chasing a new guy off. You are miserable for a moderator, and I received several private messages from folks warning me that you are. You screamed your curses at me long after I stopped saying anything. You harr!@#$%^&* new players and there was no miscomprehension -- you didn't say 'drop it' or 'shut up' or 'let it go,' you used cursing -- not to mention the fact I stopped saying anything and you did nothing to stop the one-sided cursing harr!@#$%^&*ment. You are childish, immature, and you harr!@#$%^&* new players. You don't belong as a moderator and I know I can never count on you for help, advice, or dealing with harr!@#$%^&*ers -- you join the harr!@#$%^&*ers in bullying new players. Fortunately, later on, I found some decent, professional and mature moderators like Nike. -

Really? When I first got into continuum... I was harr!@#$%^&*ed in DBZ, TW, and EG till no end (well... got a few friends in dbz, EG was -*BAD WORD*-, then tw I found my calling in lasertag) This zone only seems a bit worse off as more factors are judged into harr!@#$%^&*ment (ship diffs, money diffs, knowledge diffs) Quite true... but thats hard to fix... usually when on (when aren't I..) I fight for the new players freqs.... untill they get their way into a vet freq then I show no mercy.... Dunno... could have happenned but... lamers are seen in many flagging zones that have more than 2 distinct freqs According to my logs... you kinda brought it on yourself.... I wasn't online... so I have to agree there, could have been better handled. You egged on a mod... that was dumb and would get you no respect what so ever.... ?listmod is there for a reason.. and no doubt you could have asked where the staff list was and someone would have answered Not meant to max a ship in 1 day.... tho its possible that wasn't the reason for the zone being as it is... As I said before... you insulted a mod and egged on the players. Same situation I woulda left you alone as staying on your side would have pissed off more people....Actually, you were online but apparantly you were idling as I private messaged you. And I did nothing to provoke the mod, but he joined in the cursing and did nothing to stop the cursing done against me. When that happened, I took a jibe and put him on ignore. He chased off at least one new guy completely. Whatever you heard about my carrying on the argument is b.s., as I ignored the profaners including your mod after several minutes, but they continued screaming to the wind I guess and that drove off a new guy. I was not participating at all, as I had put them on ignore several minutes before that new guy even signed on. I'm a new player. I don't complain about getting killed, though it kinda sucks there isn't really anything that can be done to balance out a million dollar maxed out veteran's ship versus the starter ships. Negging isn't much fun. Trench Wars doesn't have the problems because the most veteran player there will get their butt whooped by newbies fairly easily. Spec spying is outright illegal there (as it is in most zones) and the mods don't take kindly to folks who lame there. That's where I used to hang out a lot .... that and a DS9 zone that I guess vanished a long time ago. :/ I came to Hyperspace because it reminded me a bit of the DS9 zone in how it customizes its ships to give a definite feel of the small, agile fighters (sharks, warbirds, javs, etc.) up through the mother of all ships, the Lancaster which has lots of energy to absorb fire but isn't very maneuverable and players like me that are good at hit and run tactics can learn to deal with. I learn quickly from dying in dogfights against seasoned players, but lameness kills the experience. Its very unsporting and it kills the fun for new guys like me. Laming in general needs to go, especially laming against new guys as it doesn't make it very fun for new guys. Imagine if you were in Trench Wars in a Weasel (cloaker) and someone was spec spying on you, taking away your only defense. You don't even get such defenses in Hyper, only the vets with a million bucks can afford to max out even a single ship. The lamers and moderators who won't enforce the rules to protect new guys really need to go if you want more new guys to not just visit but to stay in the zone. -- A Mare Who Kicks -
Yeah, I know, people berate 'newbs' everywhere but this was over the top. Of every zone I have been in, Hyperspace is the least friendly to new players. It isn't the design, layout or the way the game actually works -- those things are done very well, but the game and the veteran players are both heavily stacked against new players. I've had the misfortune of experiencing a number of lame behaviors. Today, for instance, a veteran player got !@#$%^&*igned to the public frequency I was on. I managed to get four flags at least partway in a base. No one managed to find it and fortunately no one was spec spying on me (good thing about sucking as a player, I guess) plus I dropped them in the #7 base which doesn't seem typically used for anything besides balling. Anyway, not long after I had dropped the flags, one of the players on my own frequency suddenly switched frequencies, rushed in and snagged the flags before I realized what had happened. This is no better than an intentional TK and irked me enough that I called him out as a lamer on channel. Immediately, a veteran group of players set out to harr!@#$%^&* me. I was flamed and even cursed at by players and none of the staff online at the time did anything to stop it. I put a number of individuals on ignore because they wouldn't stop cursing. D1st0rt claimed to be a mod, though I didn't see his name on the list and egged on the people cursing and fLaming. As a result, at least one new person who came on several minutes after I'd put the harr!@#$%^&*ers on ?ignore left. There were several new people who came on last night who left because veteran players were repeatedly negging with their maxed-out ships. I found this frustrating as well. I put in some good shots, took out a few Lancasters and got lucky a couple times, so I decided to try and ride it out, hoping I could get good enough to participate in the flagging so I could get the money to buy and max out a ship. Anyhow, that's not what happened. I've seen all manner of lame behavior toward new guys in just the couple of days I've been on, not the least of which is cursing a player like me out and online moderators refusing to do anything to stop it. You guys have a good game system that could keep and attract new players, but you seriously need to change players' -- and at least one staffers' -- mentalities in how they treat new players, and the game is a bit unbalanced toward new players. If you're happy with 10-20 max people, that's fine, but the game could rival Trench Wars, I'm sure, if you make it less hostile to new players. -- A Mare Who Kicks
