  1. Every website that wants to can help out and host the file. My request was for an initial list if mirrors to start the process. This list is what players will see when they attempt to enter the game with a client older than .40 so they have to be solid and reliable. It doesn't take a huge list to get started so we got what we needed and stopped asking for more. Once the file is released tomorrow, everyone can put it anywhere they want for download. It's just easier to manage a small but robust list of sites in the beginning.
  2. Thanks to those of you who offered to help. I've contacted some of you. If I didn't, your offer is appreciated and may be used in the future. For now I think we have enough to cover it. And there are some minor differences between the .40 that was posted a little while ago and this new version. Every download site should update to it. I've sent the new files to Maverick and hopefully he can propegate them to SSDL and Trenchwars.Org. I just talked to Priit and Ghost and those sites are out of date. Anywho, we should be going live tomorrow after I get the web pages and stuff ready to go tonight. Should be neat.
  3. We're very close to a system-wide release of Continuum .40 for all users and all zones. As such, PriitK, Ghost, and I are working on the updater; part of that is having a list of links available in the updater for players to chose from when they download the game. If you have a website (including zone sites) that is willing to host the download files, please contact me and I will provide you with the files and include your link in the master list of download mirrors. I believe the version TestTube has on SSDL needs to be updated due to some minor installer fixes. You can contact me via PM on this board (which I will actually check periodically), via e-mail (mackie@ssbase.com), ICQ (30075680), or AIM (SirMackieman). Thanks for your help.
  4. There have been other reports besides those reported here. Polix and some other folks were gathering those reports for bug feedback. Problems were not widespread as far as I can tell but I tried it out this morning on a Vista box and all seemed well, minus some funky graphics issues that arose from a dual monitor setup. Not a Continuum problem. Also, Syrus should really invest in some non-bunching panties. Seriously dude, it would give you a whole new perspective on life.
  5. Don't know for sure. You also have to remember that this database has been in place since 1998. Lots of folks have passed through the game since then. Back in those days it was not uncommon to have 30,000+ unique logins in any given month.
  6. Just for funsies, you guys should know that I was contacted by the jerkfaces who got the domain when it expired from Minbari's account. They said that if I gave them $250 for a year they would point the domain to whatever DNS I specified. That's right: I didn't even get the domain transfered to me for that princely sum. I promptly told them how to correctly employ the business end of an auger. Also, for those of you who don't know, SSHQ morfed in to www.ssbase.com when I lost the domain. I don't do news anymore but it still gets some traffic and it will probably be the central distribution point for the new version of Continuum along with SSDL.
  7. There are well over 45,000 unique usernames in the database last time I heard, which was a couple of years ago. I'm sure it has grown a bit since then. It would take a lot of time and it would be a bad idea; all the name ASSS would come out in force to !@#$%^&* up absolutely meaningless usernames and then !@#$%^&* and moan about people stealing their accounts when they forget the passwords. I, for one, would rather not.
