Peter Jackson and New Line finally ended their dispute over The Hobbit, and they're going to produce 2 movies, with the first movie (hopefully) being released in 2010.

I personally love these movies, and hope he does The Hobbit as much justice as he did the LotR series!

 

Thoughts? Hopes? Criticisms?

what? is this a Lord of the Rings sequel/prequel?

The hobbit was a tolkien book that took place before the LOTR series. I think it followed bilbo?

it follows bilbo and how he came across the ring. It was written as the LOTR prequel as a children's book.

 

not sure that it needs 2 movies though, the book isn't that long.

IF its 2 movies, maybe they are weaving in the ending the left out of LOTR. The part where frodo and the others come back to the shire and sarumon has taken it over and they had to reclaim it. A lot of people complained becuz that wasnt in the 3rd LOTR movie.

I remember reading The Hobbit a few years ago, especially the bit about the dragon :]

 

In the LOTR movies Gandalf said, "All I simply did was give him a nudge out the door." Haha.

The Hobbit is a great story, I read it when I was in 7th or 8th grade.

I'm not sure about what the 2nd movie could possibly be about, unless they split the book into 2 parts. Maybe they'll incorporate how Bilbo comes to adopt Frodo.

Also, I'm not sure if Peter Jackson is producing whether it means he'll be directing as well. Hopefully.

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for these movies to be just as good!

polix, i remember like begging my mother to rent The Hobbit movie after i read the book, and she wouldnt do it. =( finally got to see it later though, it was alright. not nearly as good as the lord of the rings movies later though. hopefully peter jackson will do the hobbit as good as he did the lord of the rings movies.. cant wait eh.
