this sublight drive is for advanced users, it requires constant use of afterburners (which cost no energy) to move at normal speed.

 

let off the afterburners and your ship instantly slows to a crawl, allowing for advanced dodging maneuvers.

I'd rather have it the other way around, where using afterburners slows you down. Either way though, the end result would be something similar to semiwarp where people would be skipping around and irritating as !@#$%^&* to hit.

true.. if you don't have linear acceleration, lag prediction will be !@#$%^&*ed up..

I seem to recall trying settings like that... I don't think they worked.

I've seen it work in "tanks" subarenas. I don't know if it requires some arena-wide changes to momentum or something though.
