Devy Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Hi, I bought a Geforce 9600 GT and I experienced a problem: I cant choose any resolution. When I login then, it looks like conti automatically puts me into the highest resolution available, which is 2048x1536 on this monitor. I cant enter any arenas and usually get disconnected within one minute after I enter a zone. Driver is the 174.16 which is the newest. Thanks for you help,Devy
Hakaku Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 I know Doc Flabby or someone else mentioned this somewhere, but in your Continuum folder there should be a file called "profile.dat". Open this (using WordPad) and edit the line "resolution = ". Put something valid such as "resolution = 1280x800", and tell me if this works. Some zones such as Trench Wars have a limit on how large the screen resolution can be, other zones don't. If you don't like having things stretched in fullscreen mode, then I'd also suggest setting your resolution options to windowed mode. Hope this helps.
PoLiX Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 When I had that problem, I went to Advanced Options, and turned on Show Default Resolutions.
JDS Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 are you not just able to pick your resolution in the continuum skin? has like 20 choices from 800x600 to my highest res, weird if it isnt that simple for everyone..
Shock Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Has like 20 choices if you have Show Default Resolutions checked in Advanced Options, like Polix said.
Devy Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 I tried to edit the profile.dat before, but it didnt work. I enabled 'Show default resolution', but it still shows no resolutions. Thanks anyways
Shock Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Try downgrading the driver to an older version? I just tried to edit the profile.dat for myself and it didn't work either.
Hakaku Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 Find a program called "Regedit" on your computer (you can probably find it by using the 'run' command)Windows' Registry Editor should appear. Find the Continuum folder (either through the menu, edit>find, or if your registry is like mine, it should be in HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Continuum) Open the folder en!@#$%^&*led 'State', and edit the registries ResolutionX and ResolutionY (double click, select 'decimal', and enter any values such as '800' and '600')Press ok, and then try opening Continuum and entering directly into a zone (don't change anything in Continuum, or your registry will be changed).
Samapico Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Can you change resolution on your desktop? (Control Panel -> Display settings -> Settings)

Devy Posted March 30, 2008 Author Report Posted March 30, 2008 I tried the thing with the registry, but it also set itself back to the highest res. Im not at home atm, I will try this in 2-3 weeks and report if this crazy thing works. Thanks.
Hakaku Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Alright, and I had just crossed this post earlier yesterday, so I'll post this for when you return:If you can't select a resolution after installing Continuum 0.40 from the menu or in the profile window, try one of the following: - Change the color depth under Options: Go to View / Options / Graphics tab / Color Depth . - Enter a zone then exit once logged in successfully. Hope this or one of the other above posts helps.
Devy Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 Hi, I finally found some time to get this computer running. I followed the link posted before (http://forums.trenchwars.org/showpost.php?p=629746&postcount=1), and...it really sounds crazy but it works. Changed the settings back, restarted Conti, and still works. Crazy, just crazy...Thanks for your help!
