Not sure who runs the STFU server, but I as a zone owner of many zones over the years don't think you should be allowed to set up a zone with other peoples work, unless of coarse you have permission. So I was basically just wondering if this zone was set up with permission to use MG's lvz work or if it was stolen and put up.

How flexible is Flash for online multiplayer games? Java? HTML5? I know Java and HTML5 are definitely capable. HTML5 might have some latency issues (but I might be wrong). I'm thinking we need to get a basic prototype (that actually works) up and running. Fo' real. EDIT: Is doc flabby's mobile client Java-based? Perhaps we could port that for PC and have an in-browser version.

I've tried this on both Windows 7 and Linux (Ubuntu) and I can't connect to any zones. I can see the list of zones fine, but it will not connect to anything. My goal is to have this running on a Linux VPS, I got it to run but connecting to zones is another matter. On the Windows machine I totally disabled the firewall just to see, and it still didn't work. I can connect and play using Continuum fine, but Starlight is a no go.

I try to connect to any server and I get a Network Error pop up that says, "Your internet connection has unexpectedly terminated. Please try to connect to a zone once an internet connection is available." Which is bull shit.... How do I fix this?

So I wrote a bot, for several reasons. 1, I was bored. 2, I was rusty on my socket programming and C++ programming. 3. I miss subspace. I'm probably going to keep writing but not really finish it, so to speak as finished as MERBot, or TWCore, or something. Attached is my bot as it stands now. Contains null.gif, null.png, null-opt.png, and null.wav. What are they? Nothing! The images are all 1x1 and black. They have been tested, so they do work. However, I need to point out the difference between null.png and null-opt.png. For certain graphics, null-opt.png will work fine. But for the graphics that null-opt.png does not work, null.png will. The technical difference between the two is that null-opt.png is optimized and compressed with the tools that come with PNG Monster. When the null graphic does not work, you will see a 1x1 white pixel in its place, possibly juggling around in a very small square-circle. Null.wav, of course, is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Genius!…

Is there a downside to using remote priv msgs. I mean if i were to make a bot that responds to players outside of the arena, would there be any issues/problems? security maybe? Format of version identifier (found in +Maker description): YYYYMMDD PLEASE contribute, make suggestions, etcetera. Also, there is a weird glitch that caught me off-guard (so I don't know why it suddenly started doing it), where blank lows equal 0, blank highs equal -999, and blank lows and highs (together) equal 0 (for both). well......all the graphics have so far are downloaded or copied and some arent vey good(im using hs tileset atm but would like a different tileset) Tileset: 1:Nothing in particular but i would prefer no yellow in the tiles. So, this is it. Barring any serious bugs that require my immediate attention, this is going to be the last update for a while as I have other projects I'd like to work on. I've completely revamped a number of things and I've rewritten the SampleBot demo as a result. I've omitted most of the explanation in the demo, as most everyone ignored it anyway. Besides, if you can't figure out what's going on from what documentation is there, you probably shouldn't be using the library anyway. As always, check the changelog for explicit details on what changed. The download is in the usual place. -C

With the possibilities of ASSS, has it been discussed yet, about making one superzone? When I say superzone, I mean all the current zones ran on an ASSS server, are combined to one zone. Inside the zone you can look at the list of arenas, and each arena is its own zone? like.. ?go hyperspace or ?go hsDuel I think it would be interesting.. And I'm pretty sure BanG and mod/smod/sysop powers can be edited so they only work in certain arenas. I think it would bring more people to explore the different types of "zones" that are around now.. it would change the community a bit, and add more variation. Thoughts?

I was thinking that there should be a central chatnet zone to which every could connect. It would be a mirror image of IRC functionality. Subarenas are public chat rooms everyone can retrieve a listing of, and private subarenas are not (duh). Subarenas can be converted into a private subarena via channel operator command, and vice versa. No game clients would be able to join -- just ChatNet clients and bouncers. There would even be ?goto command ChatNet users could use to go to other SSC ASSS zones (and there would be a command that would show them a list of ASSS zones). I want to know what you all think of this. I'm not sure if this whole ssdev thing is still going, but I want to keep it quiet while getting some valid input and this seemed to be the best spot. Okay, there are a ton of changes this time around. Really, this should be release 1 and I should have skipped the last one, but whatever. I'm too tired to rant about some of the issues I had, but I can will say this: F the ReentrantLock object and it's bloat and F the damn buffer/delay on C2S chatnet processing. Anyway, I've recoded a lot of stuff and got to play with some newer Java features (hooray for atomic objects). Fixed a number of bugs and probably introduced a bunch of new ones.
