I'm working on a Photoshop action that generates a tileset based off 1 vertical tile. I'm sure there is a much better way to generate a tileset in C or even Javascript. I know the mathematics involved with making a tileset but I don't know any programming. I hope someone that looks at my work here can figure out a much better 1 click tileset generator, or at least point me in the right direction (which language to use, which parts of the language to use and example usage to get me started) would be nice. Anyways, here are the brush presets for photoshop I use to make tilesets: (use them as pencil eraser) http://ssdev.hlrse.net/tileBrushes.abr Here is step1 and step2…

I'm not sure if I ever posted this, so here it is. It's a tileset tutorial video that I recorded. If you watch closely you'll see how to create a tileset out of virtually anything. It's all geometry. Watch if interested in learning how to create tilesets. It's long (3 videos), but worth it if you're interested in creating tilesets. Part one: Part two: Part three:

Hey Subspace, As many of you already know, I've been plotting an email newsletter campaign for Subspace. I'm thoroughly plotting the first of what will hopefully be monthly Subspace newsletters. I just want to share what I've devised with the community and ask for ideas, thoughts, critique, suggestions, assistance, resources, etc. Here's what I've done so far: Purchased a SendGrid account. I can send 40,000 emails per month with my current plan.Collected a total of 11,386 Subspace player's email addresses. If anyone is holding on to any subspace emails, or can access a database of emails (for example from zone forums, registrations) - please consider contributing th…

I'm trying to create a makefile to build the modules part of Discretion, but I'm running into some trouble. The modules structure is fairly organized, so I was hoping to have a single makefile to create all of them, rather than a makefile for each individual module. The dependencies are like this: the makefile is in the modules directory. Inside this directory there is a folder for each module. I want the .so file produced to have the same name as the folder. Inside each folder can be a set of .h and .cpp files. A .o (or is it .obj for c++?) file should be created for each .cpp file which depends on the corresponding .cpp and .h files. The .so file should be created wit…

Hi all! I'd like to introduce myself - I'm Nathan, 29 years young and I'm working on a new game based on Subspace. I used to play in Extreme Games a lot about 11-12 or so years ago. I have professional game development background and am a telecoms programmer by trade. I'm wondering if there is anyone here that's into 3D modelling, 2D artwork or web design that would like to help on my project "WarSpace" (cheesy yes I know). Or if there's anyone else out there who's just interested in what I'm up to, please read on... I wouldn't dare label the game as in any particular phase of development; my realistic aim is to have an open beta by the end of the year. I've reached th…

Anyone can contribute to the project. Please contribute by making a new thread, with your contribution attached. All contributions will have to be approved by a developer, before making it into the official release (Use http://sf.net/projects/subspace2) to view the developers. In order to ensure we stay legal and avoid any potential problems with SubSpace & Continuum IP we must follow these rules. Rules for contributions. I'm sure we all love High-Definition Renders, don't we? Well after 4 hours of picking on a retry of the shield this Happened. (BTW IT IS 8192x8192) The Shield.rar Smaller Render: http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss31/XDreamersMS/Continuum/Symbols/Current-2.jpg In the .Rar the blender file, and the transparent PNG exists.

Hello, What is everspace? EverSpace is an upcoming zone which allows players to mine asteroids for ore, freight ore in their cargo bay to refineries to refine into minerals which are freighted to factories to manufacture items with for selling/equipping or trading. During transit these items, and those equipped on the player's ship are subject to piracy by other players. There are NPC's that you can kill to collect common and rare items, we currently have 320 items and have plans for 1500 or more. Players can design and build their own tiles-based bases and defend them with sentry guns. Tiles will have hit points and are destructible so bases can be sieged and destroy…

Groundwork The actual reason I developed Continuum Resizer was to overlay graphics over Continuum. This is straight-forward when playing windowed (overlaying over windows is easy) but things change when you're trying to draw over a fullscreen directx/draw application. I tried a different ways of getting graphics to appear over a directx/draw app but was unsuccessful so in the end I changed strategies to just making continuum a window (when in fullscreen mode). Getting fullscreen windowed was not at all necessary for overlaying graphics (since continuum already has a windowed mode) but I wanted any add-on I developed to be seemless. Once I developed resizer, I did some…

60 Graphics Replaced. 40 Sounds. Still needs some tweaking but is at a good point for some possible feedback. Download, Backup your sound & graphics folders, Extract the zip into your Continuum folder, Enjoy! If you want to use the font, change the font option to medium. Download Vector http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/vector/vectorbeta.png

I'm curious what data type you guys think would be best for indexing tiles. Could the devs for existing projects (like DCME, Discretion, jab jab jab's java client) maybe share a bit on how they do it? Some options i found on wikipedia Why i'm asking is because i'm trying to make a bot that can navigate a map so it would be good if i could get all tiles within a certain distance away. Also performance is critical. I started out with a quadtree since that's the only thing i'm familiar with and it's easy to implement. http://i.imgur.com/VCHyB.png

A Ship-Set I started on quite a few years ago and just recently dusted off and finished up... http://www.zignotzag.net/images/subspace/misc/SolarisComp2.png Download Solaris Ship-set I also updated my ship tutorial and template files for those who would like to give it a go. Included in the Shiptutorial.zip are the Bryce7 project files for animating a ship, A text file explaining a bit how to go about getting a ship made, and a utility of my own design, which I have dubbed MegaSplicer, which assembles the frames from the series of .bmp's output by Bryce(36x36 VIE only). It generates two files from the raw frames, a flat file, and a roll file. May need XP Sp3 compati…

Subspace2 engine is taking a back seat for a while whilst I work on this. I have sucessfully running Subspace encryption on a j2me phone. I can ping zones and display LVLs and download directory listing OVER the mobile phone network (T-Mobile UK) The next step is to finish implementing Subspace protocol, Fortunatly alot of the heavy work has been done already by myself and in twcore.org, althougb quite a few changes and optimisations are needed due to the restricted enviroment Ill be posting up a downloadable DEMO for your mobile phone in a week or so which will have full chat support (ie a chat client). Unfortunatly i'm only using VIE encryption for no…

Hi, I run a zone called SSCL Ultimate (currently down because I'm searching for a new server). The reason I'm parting company with Lynx is because he can only allow ASSS, which is completely understandable as Subgame takes up more resources. The problem is that ASSS isn't compatible with the style of zone I'm looking to run, a fast paced, quick attaching zone more like EG than anything else. I've spoken to the EG sysop who tried to migrate to ASSS and ran into the same problem. I have access to the SSC Biller, I just need a very kind and generous person to offer me a slot on their server. I understand that I'm likely to receive no offers but I thought I'd try anyway b…

[1] Attaching In ASSS it takes an incredible amount of time to re-attach to another ship after de-attaching. Is this fixable and if so, how? [2] Python Python modules simply do not work, I read that using Python 2.4 would resolve the issue, but my host has informed me that this could crash the other zones, so is there another option, if so, what? [3] Directory My zone does not show up in the downloads list, I have the directory module un-commented in modules.conf [ directory ] in global.conf: [ Directory ] Name = SSCL Ultimate Description = Password = cane Server1 = sscentral.sscuservers.net Server2 = ssdir.playsubspace.com Server3 = zones.sscentral.com …
