I played from just before they dropped the "sniper" name until 2000 or so. I ran a news site called "news.txt" for most of that period. Anyone around from back then?

Or, perhaps, out. Link Remember how we couldn't give any of the Guantanamo prisoners a fair trial because then other terrorists might "learn how we operated," thus endangering future efforts? Well, none of that applies now! Let's just release all the memos referring to torture methods that worked! The hypocrisy of all of this is kind of ridiculous in the first place, but it gets even worse when you remember that 1. torture doesn't work - there probably are no successful records, and 2. even if it did, Obama wouldn't release the memos. Therefore, Cheney's doing the same thing the anti-stimulus people have been doing for months - just throw out tons of crap and w…

Leites apparently was sleepy and kept taking naps throughout the fight. Very boring fight but Silva's soccer trip and knee punches were hilarious none the less. Leites looked like a fool and I hope to god he gets jumped on the way out of the arena for trying so hard to avoid any contact. If Dikembe Mutumbo was there I'm sure this would warrant the finger wag!

Hi folks I hail from the realm of Infantry Online (which if you don't know, and I assume most of you probably do, is/was a game developed by some of the original developers of subspace, and the two games are very similar) I've been attempting to do some development with Infantry, and while I've had some success with some rather contrived-feeling things -- I'm trying to get deeper. I've asked around on the Infantry scene, and somebody suggested I look at some subspace stuff for examples and ideas - I thought this was a rather good idea, so here I am. I know next to nothing about subspace, neither the game, the community, or any development projects that you al…

So I'm sure by now you've all heard of the TEA Parties going on across the country and I'm wondering what your thoughts on them are. I personally support not only that they're protesting, but also that they're finally protesting governmental taxation and spending. A lot of groups I've read about, including the one held in my own town was protesting not just Obama and the democrats but the republicans too. I don't know how effective in the grand scheme this will really be, but I personally don't think that, at this point, a revolution would be such a bad idea.

Somehow, it'd seem SSF was one of the many who got connected into this. Googleing it, have found some phpBB boards along with IPB boards we're effected. IPB Update Note from Admin CP: So seems they are trying to fix it. Expect MANY more pms from MANY more forums over the next few days. Here at SSF, the name used was: mignulikz

Why do people have to stack teams? Last couple of days I've constantly been hounded by 2 or 3 ships. You keep playing and you notice they are always together all the time. I guess with the introduction of voice it has really taken a hit on this game too. I know my position has been communicated that way because you take out one good guy and then a few ships come directly to where you are. Problem is, is the battle I fought and won was a battle off the screen and not even around other players. I don't find this game as much fun anymore because it's always against impossible odds. Last night I was up against a team with 3 Lev's in the base. It got boring really fast. You…

Following Polix's lead, I was wondering what or why the people who have stopped playing...well, stopped playing. I'm looking for in depth answers here, not just, "It wasn't fun" or "I moved on". Why wasn't the game fun anymore? What grabbed your attention and made you "move on" from the game? Why'd you stop playing? Real answers folks. Also, would you ever come back? What would it take for you to come play again? Again, in depth answers. //Just curious

After many years, I finally have a reliable strong team that has stepped up and is willing to help out. I kind of hoped that would come of my "What is with this community?" thread. As you all always know, my threads have meaning/reasoning behind them beyond what I post. Subspace Online will replace SSCentral.com as the main portal site. It will be very dynamic, with lots of updates and information. A LOT of the content is already done, and waiting for a design that can be dynamically updated and changed as needed. We will also reek benefit for new players by having a domain that is easily rememberable, and well known. SSCentral.com, after I quit admining, went into a …

Since we need at least 10 people to effectively play a real ASWZ flag game, we need something to play while we have fewer than that many players. So what if we just drilled attackers v. defenders? The rules I've tentatively come up with go like this Map consists of one ASWZ-style base. Base contains one carryable flag, placed in the flag room (not turf flag). Attackers spawn in the center, near the greens. Defenders spawn in the flag room. To win, Attackers must pick flag and drop it (hold for 60 seconds). To win, Defenders must prevent Attackers from winning for 15 minutes. After game is over, teams are switched and game starts again. Defenders are given 60 seconds to…

So this hasn't received as much headline attention as it probably otherwise would have due to the NY immigration center shooting incident, but Iowa's Supreme Court issued a ruling earlier today agreeing with the observations of the Connecticut Supreme Court and legalizing gay marriage in the Hawkeye State. Comments welcome.

SeVeR said something interesting in the religion topic, figured I'd split rather than get off topic. This statement implies the belief that observation and logic lead to provable truths. Is that belief also based on observation and logic? If so, it is a circular argument as logic is used to prove the truth of logic. If not, then the original statement is false, and we wonder why observation and logic result in truth statements. As a side note, observation doesn't necessarily result in truths, since we may be hallucinating. The question is really about logic.

Hello, I used to play at DBZ Zone many years ago back (as Jiriki i-Sa'onserei with Gobolt) when there were people playing there. I liked the fast-paced zone. Does anyone happen to have the old zone files (not with the dbz characters atleast) or know someone who has them. We're going to have an annual LAN event in the late spring, so I might play it with few friends. Thanks.

Well since ASSS released, the multi-zone on 1 server thing has always been a big advancement in zones kind of sharing the effort. Between that and a lot of the SVS zones merging into Chaos, we've seen a lot of combined efforts. Now with a lot more information on Subgame peering, and the packet information out on how to connect an ASSS and Subgame Zone, and ASSS to ASSS zone, you can share arenas between multiple servers. Now the only problem could be settings, as most zones settings are far from each other, but some have modified arena settings for events, etc. that are pretty close. Imagine having EG and TW sharing like a zombies arena, or dodgeball. Something that isn…

If the option ever came up, what would you think? I mean, we'd probably have to find some way to transfer a player database, or build the new one from the old. That or just give up our aliases and start over again. Well, the later probably most unlikely. But if it was possible to get the database, and it'd be beneficial to the community in all the new features and additions that could be made, would you ever support it? There has just been a lot more discussion about this again lately, and figured maybe I'd open it into the public's eyes.

Well, since it's apparently impossible to get registered on the elitist sscouncil forum, I would like to bring attention an issue for all zones hosted on SSCA which I've noticed for quite a while now, but originally just thought it was Continuum being an arse and d/cing as usual. (It has probably been a bug since the beginning however.) I've informed Snrrrub exactly a month ago and he hasn't done anything to solve the issue (so for the purpose of not having it forgotten, I'm placing the issue here). It's becoming quite problematic for new and old users who want to play the game, but don't exactly realize what's the cause; they just keep getting kicked out and eventually …
