So I ran across this website that let's anyone with an invitation (took about 1 hr before I got mine) make a customized version of Suse Linux. It gives you so many options to choose from. You can select Gnome, KDE, ect. Personalize which packages are installed, which background and logo to use, specific files to include (can be zip/tar as well which are auto-extracted). So, I was wanting to have a modified version of Wine that would run the configure and make by clicking "Install Continuum." Continuum040.exe would be placed in an appropriate directory and would launch after the modified wine is installed. The thing about customizing linux this way is every setup wi…

Hello, For the upcoming new statistics website I want to create a directory client in PHP. I already have a directory client in Java but running a java program from a PHP script isn't the most efficient and in this case the performance (or more specifically, the time of execution) is important. This is what I have so far. You can see I have followed the program structure of the PHP ping client by GoldEye (more or less). -- snip snap, see attachment below -- I haven't done much socket programming in PHP so this piece of code isn't working as it should. Basically, I need to make sure I'm going the right path. Given the following protocol and D1st0rt's protocol …

Look, I know that this is a forgone conclusion, but I really hate it that BP was to face punitive damage for the oil leak. This attitude is just plain incorrect. Corporations are not faceless entities. Faceless, yes. Entities, no. They are an abstract idea. Punishing a corporation for doing something undesirable is like hitting a river with a stick after a flood. The river has no feelings and no psychology. They are just objects. A corporation is an abstract collection of finances and policies, nothing more. It doesn't feel. It doesn't think. It doesn't even really exist. Also, I hate the fact that the CEO got re-assigned too. Many would be surprised how l…

EDIT: Nevermind. This was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time. Please delete/close this thread. First off, stop. Get your hands off the keyboard and refrain from trigger-happy quickposting. Read ahead. Alright, here are my conditions (no matter what): Common sense Racism is strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated This includes songs that contain inappropriate related-words in the lyrics (i.e. the usage of “nigger” and other racial phrases and slurs) [*]Avoid saying offensive things live on air My goal for SSRadio would be not how many people listen in on the radio, but the fact that it would be running for the long-term. I believe this is what wo…

Its been quite some time since the two have been discussed. I've recently came back after not playing Continuum for a few years and started playing. Long story short, I also tried out Cosmic Rift again and was wondering if anyone here also plays Cosmic Rift? I want to try to get some old classic rogue trader battles again. Those were the best of times for CR imo.

Hi, I am not sure who's managing, or owning this zone now. Whether it's Russky, Purge or whatever but I do know the zone has been left stagnant. I'm currently working on an asss project, and if possible I'd like to use the zones files (maps, settings and graphics) as I used to play there and enjoyed the gameplay. If anything, it will be an attempt to restore the zone to its former glory (as the gameplay will be typically unaffected). Cheers.

Banned123 was in DSB yesterday Night cheating. He was warping across the map an infinite amount of times, ending up in multiple locations. Flying at very fast speeds, and shooting an infinite number of bullets. Anyway im pretty sure if the guy can do this, that hes an SSC wide problem, and hes causing problems in more than one zone. My screenshots are hard to interpret since he was moving extremely fast, and shooting very fast, and even warping between points. So in the future im going to have a video capture system ready that i can run within seconds. I turreted him to take the screenshots. http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/6248/screenshot265.png http://i…

In 1 month, SSForum (now Forums.SSGN.Net) will celebrate 8 years as the central forums for this game. They have lasted a long time, and I hope they will go further. Sadly the population of both the game, and these forums has dwindled from their former glory, but the diehards keep things alive and going. To the members and staff who have been here since the beginning, I thank you. To those who have not, but still give a lot of time and effort to the site, I thank you also. A little over 5 years ago, I was asked to come back and take the reign over the sites I had once ran, but gave up. It had been 2years, and a lot had gone downhill between feuds, zones creating their ow…

http://www.hlrse.net/subspace/TCAdmin_SubspaceInstall_2010-08-02.rar This archive contains my configurations and files for support Subspace serverware on TCAdmin. If you need help getting your Windows server setup with TCAdmin (as well as getting this configurations and files imported, and having a quick tutorial on how to start automating serverware creations), contact me. TCAdmin is a professional gamehosting software (not free). All you need is a Windows server and some additional money laying around for the TCAdmin licenses. I would recommend purchasing the Master Server License for $200 for lifetime ownership (first year of updates are free, but there is a very s…

I think it would make more sense to allow signatures to be more around 600px in width. It would not destroy page layouts on even netbook screens, it's only 100px more than current maximum, and I could put my IRC image thing on here that I have on every other forum I'm on.

You need to see this movie in theaters right now. It has movie of the year written all over it. It's a Matrix/Oceans 11 breed heist movie about dreams. They'd be nice if anybody has them... They were written by Purge a while ago, and it would save me a lot of time if I could read some of the source. Thanks.

Bitlbee is an open source IRC project. It creates a gateway between irc and popular IM protocols such as msn, jabber, and oscar. You connect to a bitlbee server and you can add accounts such as Facebook, twitter, msn, icq, aol, yahoo, gtalk, etc etc. They all populate a userlist, and when you pm them it acts as a standard message sent through any IM client. The joy of this is you have all your shit in one place, and if you already use IRC it's even better. It's also a lot faster to connect all your stuff, and your only limited to your IRC clients limitations. If you use mIRC + NNS you know possibilites are endless with this kind of a setup. You can also do group chats etc…
