Since everybody (well, almost nobody really blum.gif ) knows that I really love this game and hate it's state of near-death, I am constantly thinking about doing a new and good version of the game. The next version. Version 2. The perfect one.

However, I am only a single lazy man, so that is difficult at best...

So I am quizzinating you here to see whether anyone would be interested in co-developing it with me... yell if you might be interested, aight? smile.gif

Ok, one coder and three non-coders willing so far smile.gif

I know there are many coders who don't visit ssforum. Since coders are the most needed folk, could everybody give a link here to any coder that you see in the game?

maybe you should try asking at forums.minegoboom.com. Although I can imagine some people would laught at you.

What do you mean by Version 2? I hope you don't mean more then Continuum currently already is because we would have to rebuild Continuum from scratch anyway before making extras to it.

To be honest I find the atmosphere at MGB's forums ghastly and alienating, so I never visit there. Psychology is evil like that... Maybe someone other than me could ask there? blum.gif

By version 2 I mean basically a new game based on C/SS. Everything new. Everything.

And of course I mean more than Continuum already is. What point would be there in making something new that has nothing new in it? ;)

Funky collection of people ;)

Although you 5 could go and learn to be excellent programmers real fast ^_^ Ater all, it is in the name of the game we all love :(

I can code Java, but I doubt that would be of any use in the real world =P

Should be learning some variant of C over summer, if I'm not too busy, in which case I'd help

I could probably find use for Java coders as well, at least in some parts of the project blum.gif

I understand that most people do not have time right now. I am also quite busy for the moment.

If this gets going, this would be the timeline:

0-2 months planning. Just planning, not a single line of code. Non-coders can help out here too easily. Even busy people would be able to contribute here smile.gif

2-4 months coding.

So it would be ready by the end of summer.

As for what will be new... the definitive plan is still to be made in the first 0-2 months but all ideas would be welcome smile.gif

One major change I can note is that it would be server-authoritative, so the possibility of cheating would be even smaller than with Continuum. This will also enable us to remove some of the bad effects of lag.

Also, depending on the graphics engine we use, it might work on Linux too (both server and client).
