ipwn Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) DRAFT:The order of the draft will be drawn at random from a hat.The draft will be done in snaking order (i.e., 1 2 3 4 4 3 2 1 1...) TEAMS:Each team will consist of a team captain and several players. MATCH SCHEDULING:Each team will be notified of upcoming matches in a forum topic for the given week. Both team captains must decide on a date the Sunday proceeding the week. If teams are unable to come to an agreement, they will then have their match on Saturday and a time will be decided for them by the league staff. Matches will be on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 6pm EST to 10pm EST. Captains are extended the option to, if they so desire, to have earlier matches on Saturday as long as they have a willing and able referee to host for them. The post-season tournament will have a schedule similar to the regular season. The ladder will be arranged from overall rank in the season. NEW SIMPLER MATCH FORMAT:Matches will consist of a total of three rounds with the winner being best two out of three. Each round will consist of 4v4 five death elimination. Public ships warbird/javelin will be used. The team with the most points after will win the round. A points system will be used as described below. For each enemy kill in a round the team is given one point. For each teamkill the opposing team is given one point. In addition to kill points there are some modifiers to your total points. In between halves teams are required to sub at least 1 player. A failure to do so will result in a -3 point match penalty. Any teams which do an additional sub will gain a 3 point round bonus. Any team that shows up with only 3 players will be allowed to play 4v3 at a -8 point round penalty with no options for bonus points. MATCH RULES:Items will be allowed however ?buy will not be available in the arena. Furthermore there will be no greens.Lag out PolicyPlayers may leave the match a total of three times, after which the player is not allowed to play for the remainder of the matchA player's slot may only be vacant for a total of 30 seconds, after which it is closed and all remaining lives expire.[*]Ship Changing:Players may change ships once within 15 seconds of a death, but before engaging in combat (repelling upon spawning to disengage does not count against the player).Ship changing for any reason at any other time results in an automatic loss of life and is burned of all items on the next.[*]No subs during a half! only subbing during break times.[*]Alias's will be allowed but you cannot play for more than one team obviously.[*]All in game disputes will be settled by the referee as they see fit! Their decision is final in-game all appeals should be posted on league forums and will be handled.[*]As of January 17, 2010, 3M Alien Tech items are no longer allowed during matches. PRIZES:Players will be paid 50k for participating in each regular season and tournament match. Team spectators present for 1/2 of the match will also be paid to prevent people from showing up last minute for money. REFEREES:Just a general guideline for referees to follow along during matches if they dont know what they're doing or if they wanna be able to handle things easier/faster. General macros: ?setship 9 (to spec players) ?setship 1 and ?setship 2/?scorereset?|prize warp|timer 10|a GO!!!%104 Firstly, lock the arena... ( ?lockarena ) then spec everyone ( ?specall ) Make sure you know who is incharge of the two teams and then have them message you their lineup for the match. After verifying all the information, put them in ships, and then later ask for any ship changes if needed. This is very important, make sure everyone is score reseted. If they used specials or whatever, setship them back into the same ship since shipreseting will not give back shrap/bounce. After everything is set and ready to go, arena a message along the lines of "This is the first/second half of round one/two/three - Time limit is 10 mins - Death limit is 5" At this point (again making sure everyone is 0:0) - ?|prize warp|timer 10|a GO!!!%104 Until we get a way to verify team kills, be on the look out for team kills. Team kills do not count toward a score, but it does count toward the 5 death limit. Spec players who reach the 5 death limit with "?setship 9" and after, put them back on their freq. ( ?setfreq -f 0/1 ) if ?setfreq 0/1 doesnt work. This will allow you to know the score easier with the last F2 menu option. At the end of time or when everyone on one side is eliminated, tally the score and announce the winner of the round. If you are unsure about any rules or procedures, please ask a referee for assistance. (Or Rivel, tsk tsk) Edited January 17, 2010 by ipwn Quote
Dr Brain Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Sounds like fun. Make sure you post match times on the forums so spectators like me can watch. Quote
BZAP Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) I think you are overcomplicating everything with the bonus points system. moreover, why would you ever penalize a team short on players? Assuming that matches lead to total elimination, wouldn't allowing a five point lead and losing a quarter of a team's firepower be crippling enough? You also mentioned that ?buy would not be available. out of curiosity, will respawning refresh items like port and repel? edit: I failed to see that an unpenalized 3 man team could win a match after being totally eliminated, but I still think the penalty is too extreme. p man Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 BZAP, for example, a team with say, me, omni, and courage on it (Yes I know we're all captains) Would destroy almost any 4 man team Quote
Unix Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) I think the entire point is to allow a team of 3 to potentially win, but at the same time making it more difficult for them. There are a lot of times when quality beats out quantity, the entire point of the penalty system was to make sure that teams didnt purposely put out a team of three because it was more advantageous, which can happen since one kill = one point. A team of three, most you can get from them is 15A team of four, most you can get from them is 20 If your fourth member is sucky and is going to go 1:5 that's -4, why would a team do that? A -8 penalty just means that they have to beat out a team, so (20-8 = 12 max pnts) and not get completely eliminated themselves. A team that has the four on the other hand, the max points they can get is 15+3 = 18, and there's no guarantee that they'll get those 3 extra bonus points, so 15 could be their final score at half. 15 pnts to 12 pnts, pretty fair considering one team showed up and the other didnt.
